Kalimantan –//propamnewstv.id-Sanitation workers assigned to the Pos Lintas Batas Negara Entikong (PLBN Entikong), the main land border crossing between Indonesia and Malaysia, are reportedly planning to stage a strike action due to outstanding salary payments and uncertainty regarding their Holiday Allowance, commonly known as THR (Tunjangan Hari Raya).
According to information gathered from several workers, the planned strike is a form of protest against repeated delays in the payment of their wages.
The sanitation staff, who are responsible for maintaining cleanliness throughout the PLBN area—including public facilities, terminal areas, and administrative buildings—say they have not received their salaries on time for several periods.
One sanitation worker, who requested anonymity, stated that the issue has persisted for some time and has now reached a point where workers feel compelled to take collective action.
“We are only asking for our rights as workers.
Our salaries are often delayed, and until now there has been no clear explanation regarding our Holiday Allowance (THR), especially with the upcoming festive season,” the worker said.
The workers explained that before deciding to organize a strike, they had attempted to raise the issue with the cleaning service management responsible for the sanitation operations at the border facility.
However, they claim that their complaints have yet to receive a concrete resolution or official explanation.
PLBN Entikong is one of the busiest cross-border gateways in West Kalimantan, facilitating daily movement of travelers, traders, and goods between Indonesia and Malaysia.
As such, sanitation workers play a crucial role in maintaining hygiene and public comfort within the international border complex.
If the strike proceeds as planned, it could potentially affect cleanliness services across the border post, particularly in high-traffic areas frequently used by travelers and border officials.
Observers note that the issue highlights the importance of timely wage payments and transparent labor management, particularly for essential service workers whose duties directly support the operation and public image of national border facilities.
As of the time this report was compiled, the management responsible for sanitation services at PLBN Entikong has not yet released an official statement regarding the allegations of delayed salaries or the workers’ concerns over THR payments.
